I don’t like Nutella. Never have, never will. Something about the texture, the colour, the taste…I dunno, maybe a combination of all those factors. It does not grab.

However, I made a Nutella substitute today that is simply amazing. It is not too sweet, great texture…it’s good. Truly good. And amazingly simple to make. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of 300g dry roasted almonds (if they are not roasted you can do them yourself in an oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 7-10 mins)
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Directions

Process the almonds in a food processor or blender until runny. You can budget for about 10 minutes, depending on the power of your blender.

Add the chocolate directly to the bowl, blend until smooth, and then taste. Add honey to add more sweetness, as you feel fit.

Add the vanilla extract and continue to blend. Add the coconut oil while the blender is still running, and continue until you get the consistency you want.
